Farnese è una piccola cittadina di caratteristiche medioevali molto rappresentativa della tipologia dei paesi della TUSCIA.

È in provincia di Viterbo, a tre quarti d’ora di distanza da questa importante cittadina che ha un iteressante quartiere medioevale e terme di acqua calda.

Farnese è il nome di una delle più famose famiglie nobili italiane, molto importante nel ‘500.

A Farnese c’è un antico palazzo fatto costruire da questa famiglia con altre interessanti costruzioni; ci sono anche un castello , il palazzo comunale e una cattedrale con interessanti quadri.

Molto vicino a Farnese c’è la SELVA DEL LAMONE: è un bosco grande 2000 ettari in cui si possono fare passeggiate, molto suggestivo il sentiero per raggiungere un altrettanto suggestivo sito archeologico.

Nei dintorni di Farnese ci sono importanti siti etruschi; inoltre, nelle vicinanze, c’è il luogo dove nel 1642 venne completamente distrutta dalle truppe pontificie la città di Castro ed ora molti curiosi cercano le sue rovine in un bosco.

Farnese takes its name after one of the most important noble italian family, very powerful by the sixtheen century. So, in Farnese, you can visit, among others, the Farnese Palace, an old building erected by this family, as well as the "palazzo comunale" and tha Cathedral, wich contains interesting paintings.

Very close to Farnese you can find the "Selva del Lamone", a suggestive wood where you can have a walk to archelogical sites.

In the environments of Farnese there are important Etruscan necropolis and if you’re lucky you can find, hidden in a wood, the ruins of the "ghost " village of Castro, wich was destroyed by the Pope troops, in 1642.
